Internet Banking Supported Browsers ^topBrowsersIn an effort to provide ESL members with the best possible products and services, we will focus our future development and support on current versions of leading Internet browser software. We believe that utilizing current generation software will ultimately optimize the Internet experience for end users. For optimal security, ESL requires the use of browsers with 128-bit encryption to access Internet Banking. If you have questions about the information on this page, see our Frequently Asked Questions. Common Tasks
Supported Internet Browsers / Operating Systems
How do I read this table? To see if your browser is supported by ESL Internet Banking, read across the row that starts with the Operating System you are using. Browsers that are "Supported" have been thoroughly tested with ESL Internet Banking and support all the technologies we use.
What browser am I using right now?To find out...
Incompatible Browser VersionsBrowsers that are "Not Supported" or do not appear on this list should not be used to access ESL Internet Banking because they may present a security risk or not support the basic technologies necessary to use Internet Banking. If you are using an older version of one of the browsers listed above, we recommend you upgrade your browser to the latest supported version by using the links at the top of the table. Using newer versions of your browser helps ensure that you are protected by the most recent security updates and will improve your experience on this and other web sites. Please be aware as the Internet grows so does the technology around it. Browsers that work today with Internet Banking may become obsolete in the future. Additionally, as new browser versions are released, they must undergo extensive testing to ensure they support the technologies we use. As a result, newly released browser versions may not yet be "Supported". Note for Internet Explorer UsersPlease note that some older versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer have been known to have problems with Secure Socket Layers (one of the security technologies used on ESL.org). Microsoft is aware of the problems and have placed several patches on their site for the Internet Explorer browsers. Microsoft also had made some recommendations as to what version may fit your needs. You must have all of the patches installed to your browser in order for it to work properly with Internet Banking. Browser Frequently Asked QuestionsHow do I know if my browser supports 128 bit encryption? Most browsers currently available support 128-bit encryption. To determine if your browser supports 128-bit encryption, click on Help in the toolbar of your Internet browser and click on About [browser name]. A pop-up box or window will display.
If your browser does not support 128-bit encryption, you will need to upgrade to a browser that does in order to continue to access secure pages of the website. See the list of compatible browsers at the top of this page. Why has ESL stopped supporting all the earlier versions of the most common browsers?ESL has not stopped supporting some earlier versions of browsers, and many of the earlier versions still work with ESL products. However, due to the proliferation of browsers and browser versions, it is no longer feasible for us to test and certify every browser version used to access our products. Why does ESL use JavaScript in its products when it is known that some browsers are unable to process JavaScript? There are many good reasons to use JavaScript. For example, when using JavaScript, some validation and computation tasks are performed on the end user's browser rather than sending the transaction to the host for the computation. This provides a faster overall response time for the end user. Does this policy mean that users who don't have one of the browsers listed above will not be able to access ESL's website any longer? Many browsers will still work fine with ESL's products. In fact, there are currently over 200 different browser versions that are used to access ESL applications, though not all are certified. What Operating System versions are used for testing?
