ESL Federal Credit Union
For Immediate Release: ESL LAND OWNERSHIP FOR NEW CORPORATE HEAQUARTERS Rochester, N.Y. - Effective this morning, ESL Federal Credit Union has taken ownership of land for its new corporate headquarters at 225 Chestnut Street. On Feb. 7, ESL announced plans for a six-story office building and an adjacent parking garage at the site, now a surface parking lot across from the Strong National Museum of Play. Groundbreaking is scheduled for July, with more than 300 ESL employees expected to move in by the spring of 2010. Late last week, officials from the city and ESL signed closing documents for the property transfer. The project involves three land parcels at 225 Chestnut Street, 255 Chestnut Street and 280 S. Clinton Avenue. "It's been an extremely positive experience working with the city," said David L. Fiedler, ESL President and CEO. "Not only were we able to make this deal happen in record time, but six months later we're signing contracts to take ownership of the land - we're very pleased with the entire process." Rochester Mayor Robert J. Duffy commended ESL's leadership for this decision and said he looks forward to welcoming ESL's employees to downtown in 2010. "This is a tremendous project that will contribute to the beauty of our skyline and the economic redevelopment of our center city," Duffy said.
