ESL Named One of New York State’s Best Workplaces

Rochester, NY — ESL Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce that Great Place to Work® and Fortune magazine named the locally-owned credit union one of the best workplaces in New York State, coming in at #3 on the list of 25 Best Small and Medium Workplaces in New York. The complete list of 25 Best Small and Medium Workplaces and 25 Best Large Workplaces in New York was announced earlier this morning.

This is the first time ESL has appeared on this list — one of several lists now compiled each year by Great Place to Work and Fortune. ESL is included among several other respected New York-based large, medium, and small employers, including Wegmans, First American Equipment Finance, Dixon Schwabl, Etsy, and many New York City-based employers. The list can be viewed at Fortune.com.

To determine the Best Workplaces in New York, Great Place to Work® surveyed nearly 137,000 employees from Great Place to Work-Certified™ companies with locations in New York State and the New York City metropolitan area. These factors include how positively employees rated management transparency, professional development opportunities, meaningful work, promotion equity, and the generosity of benefit programs. ESL exceeded benchmarks for comparably-sized organizations striving to create a great workplace.

“We continue to be grateful for and humbled by the recognition we’ve received in recent years for our unique workplace culture,” said President and CEO Faheem Masood. “We truly believe that to deliver a superior experience to our customers, we must first deliver one to our employees — since they’re the people who create the overall ESL experience. We take none of this for granted, and can’t thank our employees enough for all they do to make ESL such a great place to work and bank.”

"The Best Workplaces give themselves a competitive advantage over peers by creating an environment where trust, collaboration and innovation can thrive,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work.

The Best Workplaces in New York is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and Fortune based upon employee survey feedback from Great Place to Work®-Certified organizations.

ESL also ranked on the Great Place to Work Best Small and Medium Workplaces for six years (2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2011, and 2010), and received several other recent accolades by Great Place to Work® and Fortune including 2016 Best Workplaces to Retire From, 2016 Best Workplaces for Women, and 2017 Best Workplace in Financial Services and Insurance, and 2017 Best Workplaces for Millennials.
