ESL FEDERAL CREDIT UNION PARTICIPATES AS MAJOR SPONSOR of the 63rd ANNUAL ROCHESTER PRESS-RADIO CLUB'S DAY OF CHAMPIONS DINNER

ROCHESTER, NY... It was a night for honoring professional, amateur, and student athletes and for recognizing those who serve the youth in our community. ESL Federal Credit Union was once again a major sponsor of the 63rd Annual Rochester Press-Radio Club Day of Champions Dinner.

This year's event featured Eli Manning, starting quarterback for the New York Giants. Manning received the Coca-Cola Sports Personality of the Year Award at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center on Wednesday, May 23. Prior to the dinner and his speech, Manning posed for photos with guests at a special VIP reception.

In 2008, Manning led the Giants to victory over the previously undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, for which he also received the Most Valuable Player award. This past February, Manning again led the Giants in a 21-17 victory against the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI, which earned him his second Super Bowl title and MVP trophy in the past four years.

Football is nothing new to Manning. It is, as he has said, "In my blood." He is the son of former NFL quarterback Archie Manning and, the younger brother of Denver Broncos Quarterback, Peyton Manning. Cooper Manning, the eldest of the three Manning brothers, was once an All-State High School wide receiver.

This annual dinner was created in 1949 as a fundraiser for local children's charities. Since that time, more than $2 million has been raised.

ESL has played a major role in this event for the past 10 years. In addition to being one of the seven presenting sponsors, ESL was also privileged to present the ESL Volunteer of the Year Award, which is given annually to an individual or a couple for exemplary volunteerism through a single act, or a number of acts, that have made our community a better place in which to live. This year, ESL honored Jan Schrier. Schrier was recognized for her many contributions to the Wegman's LPGA and other golf associations. The award was presented to Schrier by ESL Federal Credit Union Chief Executive Officer David Fiedler.

Founded by George Eastman in 1920, ESL Federal Credit Union is a full-service financial institution with $4 billion in assets. ESL employs more than 600 people locally and has about 300,000 members world-wide. The company was recently ranked 16th as one of 2011 Best Small and Medium Workplaces in America by the Great Place to Work® Institute and presented by Entrepreneur® - the second consecutive year the company was named to the list. Access to the credit union includes 19 branch locations and more than 40 ATM locations, a Contact Center, and Internet, online and mobile banking channels.
