ESL Federal Credit Union Named One of the Country’s 2017 Best Workplaces for Women

Local Organization Receives Recognition Third Consecutive Year

Rochester, NY — ESL Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce that for the third consecutive year, Great Place to Work® and Fortune magazine named the locally-owned credit union one of 2017 Best Workplaces for Women, on a on a list compiled by Great Place to Work® and published today by Fortune magazine.

The locally-owned credit union ranked number 36 on the list of 100 companies, which includes only one other Rochester company — Wegmans — and 98 other highly respected organizations including Edward Jones, Marriott International, and Navy Federal Credit Union.

The list considered more than 400,000 employee surveys from hundreds of businesses in all sectors of the economy. The ranking gauged women’s assessment of their organizations’ culture, leadership, fairness, and other elements essential for a great workplace.

“We’re honored to be recognized again this year as a great workplace for women — especially since women make up approximately 70% of our workforce,” said ESL Federal Credit Union President & CEO Faheem Masood. “Our inclusion on this latest Great Place to Work® list affirms once again our commitment to creating and sustaining a great workplace culture for all employees.”

Research from Great Place to Work® has shown that women are five times more likely to plan a long-term future with their employers when they say they’re treated as full members of the team, regardless of position. The Best Workplaces for Women also set themselves apart from competitors in other important ways: 95 percent of women at these organizations describe them as friendly, and the same share say they’re proud to tell others where they work.
