Arline Santiago Named ATHENA Award Finalist
Rochester, NY — The Women’s Council, a Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce affiliate, recently announced Arline Santiago, senior vice president, general counsel, director, legal, ESL Federal Credit Union, as a finalist for the 2020 ATHENA Award. This award honors the achievements of exceptional women leaders who:
- Demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession
- Provide valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community
- Actively assist women in realizing their full leadership potential.
Santiago’s legal experience began when graduating from University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1990. After years in private practice, Santiago joined Eastman Kodak Company in 1999. During her years with Kodak’s Legal Department she was part of the Marketing, Antitrust and Litigation Group and the Mergers and Acquisitions group.
Santiago joined ESL in 2008 as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. In this senior management role, her major responsibilities include the development and management of a diverse department consisting of attorneys and compliance officers. She oversees three teams—Legal, Compliance, and Audit—which are tasked with managing ESL’s compliance across multiple lines of business in an ever-changing environment with complex regulations and laws. In addition, she serves as counsel to ESL’s Board of Directors advising them as necessary on matters of corporate governance, and is the senior leader responsible for the maintenance of the organization’s entire governance environment.
Devoted to community involvement and giving back, Santiago enjoys volunteering her time with several nonprofit organizations. She currently serves as chair emeritus of the board for Foodlink Inc., and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Rochester Area Community Foundation, and as a member of PathStone’s Personnel Committee.
