ESL Named One of the Country’s Best Workplaces to Retire From

Local Organization Joins 29 Other Businesses Across Nation

Rochester, NY – ESL Federal Credit Union, which in 2015 was named the third Best Medium Workplace in America by Great Place to Work®, has now been named one of the country’s 30 Best Workplaces to Retire From by Great Place to Work® and Fortune magazine. The list is now live on Fortune.com.

Coming in at number four, ESL earned a place on this new list based on employees’ responses to anonymous survey questions relevant to their approaching retirement and benefits that help them prepare for life after they leave the workforce.

“We are delighted to be included in another Great Place to Work® list, and are proud to be a company that offers employees robust retirement benefits,” said Maureen Wolfe, Senior VP/Director of Human Resources & Community Relations. “We greatly value our employees and strive to retain great workers until they are ready to retire. Our retirement benefits include a pension plan, 401(k) savings plan, and a medical benefit for employees who retire at age 55 or later and have worked for 20 years. We also provide individual planning meetings with our human resources department and seminars and webinars with our investment management firm.”

The Best Workplaces to Retire From have created organizations where employees greater than the age of 52 say they want to stay for a long time and that they admire for their fairness. The ranking took into account survey results from team members 52 and older relating to pay and fair treatment regardless of employees' age. It also considered measures of internal promotion rates and resources available to colleagues preparing to retire.

“It takes more than a 401(k) to create a supportive environment for employees contemplating their lives post-career,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work®. “The Best Workplaces to Retire From value long-time employees, seeking out their knowledge and rewarding them fairly for their service. In turn, these companies benefit from high levels of trust and collaboration. And with lower turnover than their peers, they're well positioned to retain the leadership and institutional knowledge they need for business success.”

The Best Workplaces to Retire From is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work® and Fortune based upon employee survey feedback from Great Place to Work®-certified organizations.

ESL also ranked on the Great Place to Work Best Small and Medium Workplaces for five years (2015, 2014, 2013, 2011, and 2010) by Great Place to Work® and Fortune.
