Mary Alice Liotta Named ATHENA Award Finalist

Rochester, NY — The Women’s Council, a Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce affiliate, recently announced Mary Alice Liotta, senior vice president, director, operations as a finalist for the 2019 ATHENA Award. This award honors the achievements of exceptional women leaders who:

  • Demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession.
  • Provide valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community.
  • Actively assist women in realizing their full leadership potential.

Liotta’s experience in banking and finance stretches several decades, including climbing the ranks at First Federal as a teller, assistant branch manager, branch manager, and regional manager overseeing an 80+ branch network throughout New York State. She joined ESL in 1999 and has skillfully overseen many significant organization changes and growth in her more than 20-year tenure — from first leading ESL’s shift to digital modernization and electronic check processing in the early 2000s, to recent planning for future growth through renovations at the company’s corporate headquarters.

In a testament to fostering the development of future generations, Liotta has led the growth, development, and mentorship of many women across the company and the community. Most notably, she had significant involvement on the Board of Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York (PPWCNY) between 2013-2017. Liotta successfully navigated the organization through a period of significant change, which included multiple leadership transitions. In all situations, nominators recalled her as leading with confidence, optimism, and the assurance that PPCWNY would get through this time and be stronger than it was prior.

The 2019 ATHENA Award will be presented at a special awards dinner on January 24. More information about the award can be found at ROCWomensCouncil.org and the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce website.
