ESL Federal Credit Union Celebrates Opening of Goodman Branch
The financial institution hosted the ribbon cutting of its 24th branch in Greater Rochester
Rochester, NY — ESL Federal Credit Union celebrated the opening of its 24th branch today at 786 North Goodman Street in the Beechwood neighborhood of Rochester.
“The first few weeks of serving the residents and businesses in Beechwood and the surrounding neighborhoods has been wonderful,” said Marcelina Nobrega Courtney, Senior Vice President/Director, Retail Banking, ESL Federal Credit Union. “At ESL, our Purpose is to help our community thrive and prosper and providing convenient access to financial services and resources is vital in helping people achieve and manage their financial wellness.”
“We can’t have a more prosperous and equitable economy if everyone isn’t allowed a seat at the table. The new ESL Goodman branch will give more residents in the Beechwood neighborhood an opportunity to sit down and engage with a variety of financial services,” said Monroe County Executive Adam Bello. “This means more people having a chance to get help buying their first home or a new car or making plans for retirement—giving them more stability and a chance to move up in the world.”
“What we are witnessing today is symbolic and has the potential to be transformational. ESL can turn a site that has buried this neighborhood’s most insignificant and unused items deep into the ground,” said Beechwood Neighborhood Coalition President Kyle Crandall. “Using the original rock foundation, it is my hope and belief that ESL can offer the citizens of our neighborhood the opportunities to get their own financial foundations re-calibrated so that individuals and families can become financially stronger and independent.”
The Goodman Branch is 5,300 square feet and offers full-service personal, business banking, and wealth management services to meet the financial needs of residents. Amenities include ATMs (vestibule and drive-up), teller drive-up lanes, bike rack, and accessibility to the bus line.
Latoya Sneed is the branch manager of the new Goodman location, which employs nine as part of the ESL workforce of more than 900 employees throughout Greater Rochester. Members of the staff are bilingual in English and Spanish to meet the needs of Spanish-speaking members.
The Goodman Branch is the second of three new branch builds in the City of Rochester by ESL. The first was the Lake Ave. Branch in the Edgerton Neighborhood that opened at the end of 2021. The third location is still being determined.
