ESL College Scholarship

No longer accepting applications for the 2019 Scholarship.

One of the many ways ESL Federal Credit Union supports our community is investing in the education of our youth. The ESL College Scholarship helps offset the costs of a college education and recognizes the achievements of students who are excelling in the classroom and making positive contributions to our community.

Meet the 2018 ESL College Scholarship Winners


  • Member in good standing at ESL Federal Credit Union.
  • High school seniors in the Greater Rochester area during 2018/2019 school year.
  • Attending accredited college or university in the Fall of 2019.


1. Complete application

2. Official transcript (copies will not be accepted)

3. Resume

  • List awards/honors, activities, and community service

4. Essay

  • Choose one ESL Core Value and give an example or story about how you demonstrate that value in your life.
    ESL Core Values:
    • Accountability
    • Caring About People
    • Initiative
    • Integrity
    • Teamwork
  • One page only, double spaced, typed, 11-pt. font.

5. Letter of Recommendation

  • One letter from a school official (teacher, guidance counselor, administrator), coach, or community/volunteer organization where student has volunteered.
  • No more than one page.
  • Must speak to an ESL Core Value that the applicant exhibits and why. This does not have to be the same Core Value that the applicant has chosen.

6. Cover Page

  • Full name
  • Name of school
  • Compelling two-three sentences about why you chose that Core Value and how it influences your daily life (approach as an intro to your essay).
