You Belong Stories: Empowering Career Growth

Hear from two ESL employees on how growing their career helped them make a greater impact for others.

As an employee at ESL, your role is more than just the work you do — it’s about uplifting the goals of others.

Francesca and Ryan each have grown their roles significantly in their time at ESL and helped make a difference inside and outside the office. Francesca has been with ESL since 2012, starting her career as a teller, and progressed to working in every position in the branches, and most recently earned the role of Branch Manager.

Throughout her growth and development, it was more than accepting new job roles, it was building relationships with others that fueled her. For Francesca, meeting with members allowed her the opportunity to help them navigate immediate financial needs while also inspiring their financial future through the necessary expertise and resources. Today, she mentors others in her branch to pay forward the support she once received, continuing the importance of relationships and support for others. What’s more, she was able to take her passion for helping others and step into a leadership role to raise funds for the ESL United Way campaign, an activity she continues to promote to help give back to the Greater Rochester community.

As for Ryan, he began his career as a Student Teller, working part-time as he finished his undergraduate degree before working his way up to a Product Profitability Analyst. In his day-to-day role, he helps find ways to balance costs for ESL, and more importantly create affordable and fair pricing for members using our products and services.

He too saw the value in mentorship at ESL and was encouraged to explore his interests and gain exposure to various departments across the company. Ryan was not only growing his own career, he also was driven to help give back to others with through the ESL VolunCare employee volunteer program. As a youth hockey coach, he helps model and develop the skillsets, confidence, and team camaraderie of his team.

While it starts with developing individual talents and abilities, ESL helps employees advance in their careers while also inspiring them to uplift and support others achieve success. It’s not just about career growth, it’s about using the new skills and opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others.

Francesca and Ryan are just two examples that with a career at ESL, the possibilities are endless.
