ESL Receives Platinum Certification from the Wellness Council of America

The financial institution is the only company in the Greater Rochester area to have received this certification.

Rochester, NY — ESL Federal Credit Union announces that it has received Platinum Certification from the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA), the highest certification a company can receive for recognition in the workplace health promotion arena.

Platinum Certification from WELCOA was given to 10 companies in the U.S. based on 2018 results and is designated to companies that, according to the WELCOA website, “implement a comprehensive program that is strategic and integral to the business.”

“Receiving the Platinum Certification from the Wellness Council of America is an important honor, and demonstrates the commitment and impact our wellness team has on our culture at ESL,” says Maureen Wolfe, Senior Vice President/Director, Human Resources & Community Impact. “We have seen enormous success from our wellness program because we have made sure that every employee has the opportunity, access, and tools to participate.”

To receive the honor, applicants for WELCOA certification must meet a rigorous set of criteria aligned with the organization’s Seven Benchmarks of Success:

  1. Capturing CEO Support
  2. Creative Cohesive Wellness Teams
  3. Collecting Data to Drive Health Efforts
  4. Crafting an Operating Plan
  5. Choosing Appropriate Interventions
  6. Creative a Supportive Environment
  7. Consistently Evaluating Outcomes

When graded based on the benchmarks, organizations need to score a 179, or higher, out of a possible 180 points to receive Platinum Certification. Other certification levels include Gold (174-178 points), Silver (168-173 points, and Bronze (162-167 points). Once a certification is received, the organization maintains it for three years, at which time they must recertify.

WELCOA is one of the nation’s most respected resources for building high-performing, health workplaces. With a 30-year history and more than 5,000 corporate members, WELCOA has an impeccable reputation for helping business and health professionals improve employee well-being and create healthier organizational cultures.
