Employee Profiles – Ashley S.

Sometimes things turn out to be even greater than you think. Like starting a career at ESL. We spoke to several ESL employees who told us how their roles as tellers and tele-bankers have turned out to be so much more than they ever expected. Start your search for a career as unique as you.

Ashley S.: As a Teller, Always Learning; Never Bored

Ashley S. began her career as a dental hygienist. Turns out she doesn’t like to put her hands in people’s mouths. So when a friend suggested she should re-start her career at ESL, she thought she’d give it a go.

What did you think it would be like to work as a teller?

Honestly, I thought I was going to get bored because it would be very repetitive. I thought it was going to be the same people coming in and depositing money and taking money out.

It’s totally different. We are helping people so it’s more than that. I learn something new every day.

Before you started at ESL, what were your impressions about a career in banking?

I thought I wanted to do sales but I wasn’t sure about selling banking products.

And now, do you feel like you can take your career further?

Co-workers push you to do more and I think that’s really great. I feel like my managers are always asking if we have done iVisits. (The ESL iVisit program provides opportunities to visit other departments to explore what jobs in other areas are like.) They want us to grow and see what else is out there

So what’s next?

I really want to be a Member Service Representative. The managers I know really want you to get out there and take on new challenges. One of my managers asked me if I wanted to “do the vault” and I was like, me?
