What is Internet Bill Payment Service?

The Internet Bill Payment Service enables you to set up recurring payments, make one time payments, and track your payments to individual merchants directly through Internet Banking without ever writing a check.

What is the cost of using the Internet Bill Pay Service?

Internet Bill Pay service is FREE.

How do I sign up for the Internet Bill Pay Service?

To sign up for Bill Pay, simply log into Internet Banking and choose the Bill Pay button in the gold bar. Then fill out the on-line registration form according to the instructions. Press "submit" when you are finished.

Three business days after you submit your registration request you should log into Internet Banking and click on the Bill Pay icon again. This time you should see the preliminary bill pay screen.

What type of accounts can I pay bills from?

Bill payments must be made from an ESL Checking account. You may only choose one checking account to pay bills from.

Payment Types

There are two types of payees.

Electronic payees are sent via ACH payment. Electronic payments may take up to 3 business days to reach their destination. The Bill Pay service determines which payees can receive electronic payments.

Check payees (those that were added to the system manually) will actually be issued a paper check by the Bill Pay system and sent the check in the mail. You are asked to allow 5 business days for a check to reach its destination.

You will know which type of payment your payee will receive by scheduling a payment and viewing the calendar. Electronic if there are 3 days between the "send on" and "delivered by" dates and Check if there are 5 days between the "send on" and "delivered by" dates.

Paying ESL Loans

The best way to pay ESL loans is through the regular Funds Transfer feature in Internet Banking. Funds transfer is immediately credited to your loan. If you use Bill Pay to pay an ESL loan, a check will be mailed from our payment processor to ESL and it takes up to 5 days for the payment to be received by ESL.

Please note: Due to legal requirements, our processor limits the ability to make certain types of payments. Payments to payees outside of the United States are prohibited and may not be issued under any circumstances. In addition, the following payments are discouraged, but may be scheduled at your own risk:

  • Tax payments to the Internal Revenue Service or any state or other government agency
  • Court-ordered payments, such as alimony or child support
  • Payments to insurance companies

ESL and our bill payment processor will not notify you if you attempt to make any of these payments and will not be liable if we do not make a prohibited or discouraged payment that you've scheduled are not received, applied or credited appropriately.

  • Bill Payer Account ID (can be found in the Customer Support link in Bill Pay)
  • Member Number
  • Merchant ID Number
