Mobile Deposits

Skip the trip to a branch or ATM. With mobile deposit from ESL, you can make deposits when and where you want simply by using your smartphone. It’s safe. Secure. Fast. And convenient. Consider it another example of how we design easy-to-use services that fit your busy lifestyle.

To use Mobile Deposit, make sure you have the most up-to-date ESL Mobile Banking app. You can download the iPhone® and iPad® version from the App Store.SM The AndroidTM phone and tablet version is available from the Google Play Store or Amazon Appstore.

  • Making Deposits

    At ESL, it’s easy to make mobile deposits. Just follow these simple steps:

    • Endorse the back of the check like you normally would.
    • Sign in to ESL mobile banking:
      • If you’re using an iPhone or iPad, tap Deposit Checks.
      • If you’re using an Android phone or Android tablet, tap Deposits.
    • Accept the ESL Mobile Deposit Service Agreement—please remember this applies only to first-time users.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to photograph your check and complete your deposit.
    • Look for the Success screen—once it appears, you’ll know that we’ve received your deposit.
    • You may view up to 180 days of mobile deposit history, including images and status.

    Quick Tip

    You should keep your original check for 30 days as a reference. Once the funds have been deposited in your account, you can mark the check “void.” You won’t need it after that.

    Additional Information

    If it’s difficult to recognize your account number, routing number, or other important features of your check, you may not see your deposit posted immediately to your account.

    In that case, an ESL representative will personally review the deposit by the next business day to resolve the situation. 

  • Photo Tips

    Here are some quick tips on how to take a good, clear photograph of your check. It will definitely facilitate the mobile deposit process.

    • Take your photo in a well-lit area
    • Place your check on a contrasting surface. In other words, if your check is light-colored, place it on a dark background.
    • Only include your check in the photo. Keep your fingers and any objects out of view.
    • Make sure that the entire check shows within the Mobile Deposit guidelines on your smartphone screen
    • Leave a small amount of space between the guidelines and the four edges of your check
    • Allow enough time for your smartphone camera to focus on your check before you take the photo. And remember: You can always tap the center of your screen to sharpen the focus.

    If you follow these simple steps, you’ll get a good, clear photo that will help us deposit your check quickly. So you’ll have access to your money right away.

  • Deposit Limits

    With mobile deposit, you may deposit up to $10,000 per day.

    Additional Information on Funds Availability with Mobile Deposit

    Your mobile deposits will follow the ESL Funds Availability Policy.

    • In most cases, the first $200 will be available on the business day we receive your deposit.
    • In some cases, depending on your relationship with ESL, the first $1,000 of your deposit … or even the entire amount … may be available on the business day we receive your deposit.
    • A “HOLD” may apply to all check types, even payroll checks, government checks, and other checks that we do not typically hold with other deposit options.
    • There are some specific types of checks that mobile deposit cannot recognize.
    • Checks payable to any person or entity other than the person or entity that owns the account into which the check is being deposited
    • Checks containing an alteration on the front of the check or item, or which you know or suspect, or should know or suspect, are fraudulent or otherwise not authorized by the owner of the account on which the check is drawn
    • Checks payable jointly, unless deposited into an account in the name of all payees
    • Checks previously converted to a substitute check, as defined in Reg. CC
    • Checks drawn on a financial institution located outside the United States
    • Checks that are remotely created checks, as defined in Reg. CC
    • Checks not payable in U.S. currency
    • Checks dated more than six months prior to the date of deposit
    • Postdated checks
    • Checks or items prohibited by our current procedures relating to the Mobile Deposit Service or which are otherwise not acceptable under the terms of your account(s) with us
    • Checks payable on sight or payable through Drafts, as defined in Reg. CC
    • Checks with any endorsement on the back other than that specified in this agreement
    • Checks that have previously been submitted through the Mobile Deposit or through a remote deposit capture service offered at any other financial institution
